Color Schemes

I did a few quick color Schemes for my spaceship that I recently modeled in Maya. Let me know what ya like! I'm thinking combination of a few might make a good ship.

Paper Dolls

I have been attending the live model drawing sessions at Kings Gallery to help me improve my anatomy. Some of my drawings taken with my digital camera. I need a scanner. A big one. A VERY BIG one. These were done on 18x24 sheets of paper.

Logos

As a fan of both the fine sport of Soccer and Online Manager sim games I have become quite active in online games such as Planetarium Manager and Hattrick. I've always enjoyed designing logos and have helped a few teams out by designing logos for them. Here are a few of my favorites.

I also designed the logo, shirts and scarves for one of the supporter clubs of Real Salt Lake. logo and close ups of the supporter club have been shown on ESPN and even has showed up on a popular English soccer show.

Level Design

Ran across some pictures from a Halflife 2 mod, named Plan of Attack, level I created. Only pictures I have of a lost level :( It was called 'Chinatown' all it was waiting for was textures.

Sketches pt.2

Here are a few environment WIP/sketches. Below is a matte painting in progress...still. Plan on sci-fi-ing it up a little bit. play around with the buildings and add some little spaceships hovering around.

A few environment quick sketches

Sketches, Unfinished Business and Works in Progress pt.1

I usually work on multiple pictures at once. Helps to keep pictures fresh and also lets me work on different subject matters and styles at one time. Here are a few sketches and WIP that I have sitting around. some of them sit around for awhile before I pick them back up. Must get lonely being a forgotten picture.

Above are some icons I modded for the game Galactic Civilizations II. A very fine turn-based Space sim.

Some of the first character sketches I did for Mods with a Wacom.

Now in 3D!!!

Have been playing with google sketchup a lot lately, and started re-learning Maya to improve my chances of getting hired in the gaming industry.

I have been using Sketchup to bring quick 3D images into my 2d concept drawings. Here is a fictional Hong Kong style street/canal picture I built which will be colored up in Painter X.

I built this ship in Maya 8.5 based on a sketch I made (see older post) and plan on learning how to unwrap UV's and texture it as well. Kinda like a 'remember how to play with Maya' project. I finished the model a couple weeks ago.

After the Battle

Los Angeles, 2046
For years the Asian-American Pacific war raged on. After the fall of Japan no one was left to defend the west American soil. On August 23rd, 2046, the Chinese-North Korean Red Army fired ICBM's from their nuclear subs in eastern Russian waters. With the land invasion from Russian troops on the American Wst Coast the war was soon to reach even deeper into American soil. This was after the initial battle, but far from the end of the war.

For a weekly contest at Conceptart.org titled 'After the Battle'

Traditional Media?!

Remember back in the day when you had to use a brush and a canvas and that messy stuff called paint to make pretty pictures? Well these aren't THAT old, but a few acrylic paintings I did a few years ago before my complete obsession with Photoshop and Wacom.

Decided to take my time with a piece and really play around with different brushes and techniques.

the Trainyard

Concept designs of a stadium for an online soccer team I manage named Salt Lake Athletic FC. (http://www.pmanager.org/) I built the stadium in Half Life 2 editor and brought images of it into Photoshop where I placed photo textures and colored a bit of it. This was my first matte painting in photoshop so to speak, I feel I could do much better now. Perhaps an update is necessary.

The plan was to build the stadium using the facade of the old Union-Pacific building in Downtown Salt Lake. It has since become a Virgin Megastore in the Gateway Mall. Ugh, Stadium would've been better

Argh!

To pass the time at the In-laws we play a table top game called Pirates of the Spanish Main. Basically you purchase a pack of Pirates cards, assemble some ships and play with them to destroy or at least make poorer your nearest and dearest enemy.

The game comes with some pretty pathetic and very atmospheric destroying cardboard card-sized islands. I decided to make my own and I feel it made the game even more fun!

Cheap Bounty

Here is a piece I did back in 2004. Was playing around with difference zooms in Photoshop. Just a Bounty Hunter chasing a cheap bounty so he could afford to pay rent...

Spam, Spam, Eggs, and Spam

Favorite Monty Python moment for a weekly contest. I think of the Vikings singing "Spam, Spam, Spam, Spam" every time I make Spam Riceballs.

Spacepods

A few colored up ships taken from some of my thumbnails. I can't get enough Spaceships. Although I think it would be a lot of fun traveling to different galaxies and exploring the outer cosmos, I have a feeling there would be a TON of downtime. So hopefully I can afford a comfortable ship when the time comes.

I am currently working on a 3D model of the 2nd ship in Maya.

Blood Opera

Big fan of Asian Cinema. Hong Kong blood opera's especially.
I started creating my own heroes and villans.
Here are a couple who survived the battle.

Fresh Sushi
